If you have 7 days and you've never been to Egypt, this is the trip. You'll fly into Cairo for 2 days at the Pyramids and Egyptian Museum, then take a domestic flight to Aswan to board a 4-night Nile cruise. The cruise sails north through Kom Ombo and Edfu temples to Luxor, where you'll disembark for the East and West Banks (Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut). Optional Abu Simbel pre-dawn add-on if you want it. The pace is balanced — neither rushed nor too slow — and the route works equally well for couples, solo travelers, and small groups.

Common questions about this Egypt itinerary

Is 7 days enough to see Egypt?

Yes, for the classic Egypt experience. 7 days covers Cairo, the Pyramids, a Nile cruise, and Luxor's temples. If you want Alexandria, the Western Desert, or Egypt + Jordan combined, you'll need 10 to 14 days.

Should I add Abu Simbel?

If you can spare a pre-dawn departure on the Aswan day, yes. Abu Simbel is one of Egypt's most spectacular temples. The drive is 3 hours each way; most travelers find it worth it.

How much does a 7-day Egypt trip cost?

Per person, expect $1,200 to $2,500 in mid-range hotels and a standard cruise; $2,500 to $5,000 for 5-star and luxury cruisers. Prices include all internal logistics, guides, and most meals.
